Call for papers – Postdoctoral Conference on Tax Law – Closes 31 August 2019

May 11, 2019   |   by David Massey

The Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance invites young scholars to attend the 5th Max Planck European Postdoctoral Conference on Tax Law which will be held on 18-19 November 2019 in Munich.

The Conference provides postdoctoral researchers in the field of tax law with a platform for presenting and discussing their research projects with peers from all over Europe and fostering the pan-European academic exchange of ideas.

As the success of the four previous Max Planck European Postdoctoral Conferences on Tax Law has shown, there is much to be gained from discussions within an international setting. This is especially true since international developments have an increasing impact on national tax systems: European law limits the tax sovereignty of Member States in cross-border situations; national tax policies are driven by the necessities of international tax competition; globalisation breeds new forms of economic
integration challenging traditional rules of international taxation. Tax law research reflects these developments by placing more and more emphasis on the European, on the international, and on the comparative perspective.

The Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance solicits proposals for presentations of about 30 minutes from scholars who either hold a doctoral degree or will complete their doctoral studies in the course of 2019, and who are not (yet) full professors. Both work in progress and finalised research may be presented. The presentations should be given in English.

To apply, please send an abstract of no more than 500 words to Erik Röder by 31 August 2019. Scholars whose proposals are selected for presentation will be notified no later than 15 September 2019. A detailed invitation including the conference program will follow soon thereafter.

The Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance will reimburse the travel and accommodation expenses of the invited conference speakers. All speakers will be invited to the conference dinner on the evening of 18 November 2019.

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are looking forward to a fascinating and enjoyable conference with you!
